Fiber Optic
12 strand Fiber optic cable need about 1400ft where should I go for this kind of quantity?
We have a very big building to building application coming up and I wanted to know if anybody had a good source for getting a 12 strand fiber optic cable length this long. Is it on 1000ft boxes?
No worries. Most spools for fiber optic cable start at around 5000ft to save on waste not having a bunch of small pieces. Fiber Cable is light so freight cost should not be an issue as well. You most for sure need multimode mode, anything under 2 kilometers you'll use multimode.
I always use an indoor/outdoor tight buffer rated over the loose tube for these reasons.
1)The diameter of the tight buffer is way smaller than the loose tube so you can pull more strands into innerduct
2)Tight buffer is more flexable so turns and bends are easier through the innerduct or conduit
3)Tight buffer requires no fan out kit saving money on material and additional labor
4)Loose tube is more common as just a indoor or just an outdoor fiber. If you pull just an outdoor rated fiber, fire code specifies not to pull into the building more than 50ft. When you install an outdoor/indoor fiber you good to go.
Here’s where you can find a demo video of the fiber I get and price.
