What damage will solar storms cause to earth?
Will it just mess with electronics?
There have been solar "storms" all through Earth's history. In the past, they would have caused spectacular aurora but little else.
But our electronics (in orbit and on the ground) are vulnerable to coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that can occur during times of peak solar activity.
Solar storms by themselves are not dangerous - they are only a threat if they produce a CME that is aimed at Earth.
