Why did the Steelers sticker on one side of their helmets?
The Steelers are the only NFL team that sports their logo on one side of the helmet. At first it was a temporary measure because the Steelers are not sure they like the look of the logo a helmet on all-gold. They wanted to test them before going in all directions. Equipment manager Jack Hart was instructed to put the logo on one side the helmet - the right side. The 1962 Steelers finished 9-5 and became the winningest team in history to date. The team finished second Eastern Conference and qualified for the Cup playoff. They wanted to do something special for their first playoff game, so they have changed the color of their helmets with black gold, which helped to highlight the new logo. Because of the interest in having the logo on one side of their helmets and because of the new success of their team, the Steelers decided to leave it like that permanently. The helmet today reflects how the logo has been implemented and there has never been changed.
